Idea 2:
Have some way of moving drones around more easily. A way to have a drone either enter the back of your vehicle or dock with it would be nice. An alternative would be the ability to have a drone tail your vehicle so it's on hand when you need it, or have a "gridguide self" command to call it to your location.
In addition to this it would be nice if you could control drones whilst sat in your main vehicle. It seems a bit odd that you have to get out of that nice tough Bison in order to tell a Rotodrone where to go.

Idea 3(4?):
Be able to control vehicles themselves from within other vehicles,
Idea 4(5?):
If you gridguide while remotely controlling a vehicle, you should be able to return to your senses, and have the vehicle still on the gridguide.
Idea 5(6?):
Be able to see people entering/leaving your vehicle while remote controlling.

Here's an idea-
Since most of the imm run ideas seem to run against the problem of having a single guy control all the people the team runs into, including the star/army types, why not create a sort of a bot variant?
These bots would accept IC commands only, over radio, phone or speech, and only from designated people. They would move, defend against intruders, scout, and fight as a unit. Properly constructed, they could even fill the radio chatter that's so hard for IMMs to create.
If these bot armys use deckers as a communication node, (since phone seems to be the only tap-free communication method) then that gives our own deckers something fun to do- hunt down and eliminate the Star's dispatchers.
Now, problems might include creating a special player-class just for bots, since IMMs need a way to get them experienced off the bat, since they must be PK off the bat, and since you don't want to flood the who list with a bunch of bots.
But it could be fun. If you want, I'd be happy to tackle the project.

How about the ability to leave a voice mail on someone's phone? Would really come in handy sometimes.

as to the topic of extras or npcs for special events my solution has always been to ask a player to play a specific part for that night. this player's actions are included in any karma suggestions along with their primary character name. there is no need for them to gain any experience as most imms can force someone to be pk regardless of tke, just have to ask and explain why.
voice mail is already an option for anyone who uses triggers they just create a trigger to answer their phone and leave an outgoing message whenever their phone rings. what would be of interest to me is for the caller id function of the phone command to work in a recording manner so as to store the last few calls number regardless of if the phone was answered. this is the system in place for all caller id systems i know of with the exception of awakened worlds. I do see that this could easily be handled with any client that has a trigger feature in a variety of ways.

By voicemail, I meant if you were offline or had your phone off for some reason...
I've already set up voicemail triggers, but I've lost count the number of times I needed to get in contact with someone and they were offline and it would be great to be able to leave a voicemail.

which is where the wonders of mudmail come in. unfortunately at present one needs to go to a post office to send or receive mud mail hopefully in the future pocket secretaries will be implemented to allow this from any locations. (note che has said he hasnt implemented this because he has grander plans for pocket secretaries)

Vampire and Werecreature PC's. The SR3 Companion has all the basic background for these additions, and maybe we can expand on these.

Funny, I was just heading out the door, and somehow I ended up here.... What was I doing again?
So... ideas to take this MUD from great to awesome...
I think that the personalization of equipment, in itself, lends to the kind of player machismo that makes for a great shadow community - but people already have that. What I'd really like to see (keep in mind that I'm a magic-primary sort of guy) is the ability to enchant / alchemy (which is related, but not the same thing) / ally spirit codes. Undoubtedly, there are similar craft-type skills that would add to the depth of the game, as well.
This brings me to knowledge/language skill updates. A character should get their base language at (Int) level, as well as (1.5xInt) in additional languages - without having to pay active skill points to get them. Also - Sperithiel is a mind-bogglingly complex language which should only be available to Tir-born characters with some sort of social rank. According to SR cannon, most elves don't speak elven, and only Tir nobles are acutally conversational-fluent in them. Perhaps have Tir nobility written in as a character cost available to elves. - If anyone wants to discuss Tir Tairngire or Tir Na Nog on another thread, start it up and I'll chat away.
A character should also have 3xInt in knowledge skills, which are also not active skills, but may act as supporting skills for some tests (such as magical background -> Alchemy, etc.,) This might give the character an edge in certain social situations, where she shares an interest with an NPC.
Someday, I'd like to see Otaku coded.
Edges/Flaws or a point-based creation system?
I might point out to a comment that Mace posted that there isn't a starting character option to make a Vampire character, and I probably wouldn't allow for one, if I were Che. There is, on the other hand, a ghoul option.
Critters. I'd like to see more Critters out there. Little ones would make good mobs for the majority of us and big ones would make good mobs for Riggers with EFA Varients just sitting in the hanger, doing nothing.
I wouldn't mind seeing a little bit in terms of past actions affecting the present - such as killing five Spiders means that the whole gang immediately recognizes you as a threat and attacks on sight. I'm sure that idea will be unpopular, but it's out there.
I'll let y'all chew on that for a bit, and I'll come back with more for later.

OK, it's later.
To complete some ideas that hit me as I was sitting in Business 101, here are more for the woodpile...
I'd like to see some of the systems for Shadowbeat implemented, allowing for characters such as Rockers and Reporters. As part of the flavorful background of SR, I wouldn't mind seeing some of the Bloodsport (Largely Azzie), Urban Brawl, Combat Biker, and Hurling (Tir Tairngire) team members on the streets sometimes. I know that these areas may be a MUD unto themselves, so I won't hold my breath, but perhaps PCs could place bets on their favorite teams or players and win some money from the local Fantasy Leagues (Both bets between PCs and bets against the MUD.)
Another thought of huge span is this - we have the surrounding 'burbs of Seattle, but I haven't heard much about some of the other areas that are described in SR, such as Denver, Tokyo, Osaka, Chicago (for veteran runners, there are still corporate bounties on Insect Spirits), Portland, Salem, London, mainland Germany, and Tir Na Nog/Ireland/Wales. (OK, so... I get around.)
I'm not asking that these areas need to be huge in terms of rooms, but it would be interesting to have an airport in Seattle (or monorail, if we're talking Tir Tairngire or Cal Free) that could take you off to other lands, giving the whole International flavor. This would also give rise to the important smuggling operations that keep Runners in the biz by supplying essential equipment... yeah... some smuggling autoruns'd be nice...
How about optional player characters that are Lone Star/Knight-Errant affiliates, with a corporate HQ, looking to walk the fine line of upholding the law and upholding a corporation? What about playing a gang memeber, with your gang lieutennants and gang leaders acting as your primary Johnsons? One could easily strech this idea to the Yakuza, the Seoulpa rings, the Mafia, etc., etc.,
I think Cyberpirates would be dead last on the list of things I'd ever need to see in this MUD.

So when you say like your gang leader acting as your J, does that mean you're-- theoretically-- in some sort of compy-controlled faction instead of a PG? Or like, an imm steps in as leader and gives you tasks now and then, or what?
