Hey guys-
I am heading up a project to get some testimonials for the mud for the website about why you play AW. If you would like to be involved, please post here. Also post about how long you have been playing.

I've been playing AW for around 8 months. I play here because -
a) The playerbase rocks.
b) I dont know any other place that I could play my character the way I do. and;
c) The story so far has been fucking awesome.
Whilst I know people have left over fights with other players or with imms, I have never had a problem with any of them. If anything, I'm sure they've had problems with me...
Plus... I hear that Rhaps and Nezzix would cry if I left.

I love the enviroment of the MUD and the good playerbase we have. I like how the players help each other out even though we do get the occasional troublemaker who likes to grief people. But most of all the staff do what they can to make the MUD a better place. Oh and I have been playing here for about a year and a half.

I came here because this MUD is one of the few I've been on that has done an admirable job of integrating RP and MUD mechanics, but after my original reasons to come here, the playerbase and hard work from immortals kept me hooked. That and I was addicted to using my character solely to satirize Frenchmen to mess with Kyzrath. I like to dub it... Frenchsploitation.

I have been here for going on 2 years now and absolutely love it here. I love the SR universe and where else can you get to play a giant cow that isnt swinging a sword, but using bullets. Another reason is that the players here have been really fun to play with and i really needed to be able to rp somewhere as the group i had been rping with had all moved. This si the first MUD i have ever played and I can't see myself going to play anywhere else. I have made a few frineds inmy time here and it has helped me with my addiction. And, you guys dont crab about my spelling. The main reason is though, I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't get my daily dose of Ryan telling Dover to GTFO! And for the record Ryan, I would cry if you left. It wouldn't be the same.

It's fantasy plus sci-fi with a lot of cool players (both mortal and immortal).
'Nuff said.

I play it because it made me lose weight.
Okay, I play it because it's an alternative to MMORPGS. At least I don't have to pay.

I play Awakened Worlds for several reasons: it's the best Shadowrun MUD I've found, it's players are both entertaining and creative.. for the most part.
People are friendly until you meet them IC, then they're either a new friend or a new enemy! Which is still great, because if you're everybody's friend, things get boring.
Oh, and I get to play an overlarge demonic-looking ork metavariant who enjoys throwing wild parties and stripping. What could be better?

I have been playing on and off since Autumn [Fall] 2006 and have played very regularly since about Feb 2007.
It is an excellent SR MUD and I thoroughly recommend it - there exists some 'singular' individuals as Imms and players but you will soon find your feet. The opportunity for RP is excellent and you are given the option whether or not to partake in the RP side of things.
Initially characters need to be really careful about quickly developing their character(s) as - Hey guys - it can be dangerous out there!
The options to develop your character are superb, as is character generation [chargen] - in fact the options for choosing your metatype and the implementation of the magic, especially physical adept, and rigger options are also superb.
I cannot comment on the Decker options but from listening on the radio, and they have working PDA's and MUCH MORE...., these seem to be well received by the deckers that play on the MUD. Everything is so close to cannon core rules of SR3 - well I have been reading the source books for well over a decade as I played Shadowrun as a PnP RPG from the very beginning. The code is extraordinary in its correct adherence to the SR3 cannon rules.
It is so enjoyable to play and I have only ever had one problem - my fault - when I used the OOC channel for an IC problem when I had no other way to communicate and was stuck, but learn the rules quickly - they are not at all too obstrusive - and things will go well. I have most often received help and support from staff and players although my time zone limits the possibilities - Hey! you Europeans, get on line, join us, and then we can sort out the time zone challenges - neh?
My only great gripe - which is only aimed at the European readers - is that the IMM run's - I have yet to catch one - are run in a time zone inconvenient. i.e. the early hours of the morning for GMT'ish time zones.
But hey! as I continue to play I will develop my character to the point where I feel confident in their ability to survive and then I shall go looking for the Imm. runs more vigorously. Which obviously implies I haven't chased them down very much.
I am/was a professional coder - you name the programming language and I can code in it, Fortran; C(with all the pluses in turn); Pascal; Cobol; 68000 series machine code; All the Basic variations - I have written code for scientific applications, and specifically NASA/JPL space exploration projects - hell I started programming when we used to have to punch datacards and feed paper reel tapes into the bleeding computers; the first language I learned was Fortran 66 and Fortran 77 . This is not a boast just to let you know I recognize good code when I experience it - this code is excellent. This is mainy due to the incessant work of one dedicated man, Che, and so look at the donation option on the website to help improve the hardware et. al.
So if you are into Shadowrun and MUD's there can be only one and that is Awakened Worlds. See you on the streets - and 'Hey! Let's be careful out there'

I have been playing AW off and on for more than 2 years now, and the only reason I've ever "taken a break" from AW has been lack of internet access. Over this time I have played a number of different types of characters, some were completely down to classic MUD business of "questing" (going on automated shadowruns) and others that could rarely be found on most M**'s like one of my favorites who spent almost all of his time as a guerrilla journalist. These alternative character roles may not gain the automated experience and more often than not couldn't ever "roll a dragon" or whatever but the freedom to play them is reward enough and the staff is excellent at taking care of the experience and little extras to reward people who are rp'ing.

I've been playing for about 6 years now, and in my opinion,
this is the only mud worth playing.
This game has absorbed a huge portion of my life, and i love every second of it.
I play it because it's the best I've found, and the staff actually listens to the players.

Ive never not had fun, really... In the fekkin' years Ive spent playing here... Constantly evolving code keeps me amused, and the Immyruns are usually wierd/fun/random and/or completely suicidal... WHO DOESNT LOVE THAT!

It's the best digital manifestation of the Shadowrun setting I've ever seen. It really feels like I'm in Seattle, that I am my character.
