Figured since most of you don't take the time to watch the trid for info,
I'd give you this morsel I saw this morning.

| Quote: | Saturday Morning Ten O'Clock News!
"KSAF News on scene at the home of one Bertram Lang, a Lone Star captain
that was recently transferred to Seattle from Denver. Patrol officers
on-site stated that they noticed the door on the house of their captain
left open and immediately investigated. An hour later, Lone Star's Medical
Examiners arrived and later declared him dead. As Lone Star would not let
our crew in to tape the inside of the home, we were forced to get a
statement from one of their officers, who was quoted as saying it looked
"[sic] Like a (expletive deleted) nuke went off in there." We could also
not get footage through Lang's front window, as he had currently had it
painted a tacky opaque red. The officer himself had several charges against
him, most notably harassment and unnecessary use of force when apprehending
his suspects. An anonymous source sent us evidence of corruption of the
captain, with the photos displaying the man accepting bribes from suspects
in a Denver Lone Star case, which recently fell through after the sole
witness was involved in a traffic collision, and later died after admission
to the local hospital. The local Lone Star Division Chief refused to give
a statement on the matter, only saying that he'll 'Take care of it.' This
is Linda Alvarez, KSAF News, reporting from the home of the late Lone Star
captain, Bertram Lang."
The footage then returns to the KSAF newsroom. "Thanks, Linda." The news
anchor chuckles to herself before taking on a grim visage. "Grief rocked
the metahuman-rights movement today, as Rayford Adkins, a human politician
who was spearheading the movement to give all metas equal treatment as well
as remove and revive the Redmond Barrens, was assassinated during his speech
at the rally he was holding on Second and Spring Street here in Seattle,
just outside the Troll and Ork-only nightclub, The Big Rhino. Thousands
flocked to the small intersection for the rally, while Lone Star was on
scene for crowd control purposes. Trideo footage by a KSAF crew
caught the moment he was shot. Those faint-of-heart or of weak stomachs
should not watch the gruesome display. Roll the clip, would you?" The
screen changes to a shoulder-cam, obviously a Troll since it isn't
blocked by thousands of backs by those watching the rally in person. It
focuses on the human on stage in the middle of his speech. "And even
though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow...I still have
a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in our world's dream. I have a
dream...that one day...this nation will rise up and live out the true
meaning of its old Creed. 'We hold these truths to be self-evident that
all men, AND women, are created equal." The crowd erupts into cheering
while Rayford raises his hands and pauses, but his speech would not
continue, as just then a bullet impacted his skull, leaving little behind
as the spray covered those sitting behind Rayford with its contents.
A scream is let out and surprise envelops the crowd, with the camera
starting to sway as those nearest begin moving to look for where the
shot came from. The clip finally cuts out, returning to the newsroom.
"Horrific footage." The news anchor says while shaking her head.
"Truly horrific. Forensic evidence from Lone Star, according to the
damage done and velocity the bullet travelled when it hit Rayford,
place the shooter at over half a mile away from the stage, leaving only
expert snipers or a mounted rifle on a military-specced drone as the gunman."
A wry smile appears on her face immediately as the photo from the clip changes
to a movie poster. "In other news, Aiden Bron's latest Action-Thriller slash
Shadowrunner movie debuted last week, 'Ask Wren What It Said', raking in over
one hundred million nuyen on its opening weekend. Aiden is quoted as saying,
'It's my best work yet.' and I can only agree." |

So. A Lone Star captain murdered in his home, followed by a politician
the next day in the morning? My Common Senses are tingling.
I'd say they were related.
The movie wasn't all that good. Several glaring errors. But when has the
movie industry ever actually researched their topic?
EDIT: OOC: Yeah, I know half a mile isn't all that difficult a shot with today's rifles,
but SR's wonky weapon ranges have a sniper rifle's max range at 1000 meters, or a little over half a mile.

Always! Of course, "research" usually means they ask somebody who watched a clip based on a book by a guy who wrote an article on the subject...
And I don't know about 'common senses', but I think you might need to get that checked. Two people murdered on the same day? Talk about bo-ring. Give me something more interesting next time!

The greatest tragedies were written by the Greeks and by Shakespeare. Neither knew chocolate. The Swiss are known for nonviolence. They are also known for superb chocolate.
