Subject: Newest source compiling :)
|
Hello there coders!
Ive been running to little problems with compilin the new source files. I have the newest possible release and im now tryin to get the new source to work and after that give it a few nights of time to custom code everything... anyway, im a little stuck here getting weird errors and a lot of em. I understand that others have compiled their sources with no problems and thats why i wanna ask these few questions to make my life a little easier
firstly heres what i get when i try to compile atm:
Code: |
its weird :<

I still ask what packages should i install to make GCC and AwakeMud work correctly with C++ code
Guess im a bit cuelless here...
thanks in advance!

Hmm those source files suck from so many corners i finally got everything together and when game goes to "loop" it closes itself down... Too much trouble to start finding all the errors
Che: if you could release a new package? That would be cool.

as stated on the website the latest release source probably won't work with the release world files. Read the startup log and maybe I might be able to tell you how to fix it

Naaah what i was meaning that the 'release' version works fine... Ill just stick on it and learn how this version of MUD swings you know... anyway i meant that its a little too much of work to start doing cause fixes are on its way... Going through it all for just getting it running with the new source isn't worth it at the moment.
And now im trying to get rid of those world files and another thing i haven't figured out on this MUD is that where can i get 'gm' or 'god' priviledges setted for my character... well im just starting todays stuff so ill figure it our soon anyway, but thanks for helpin and cheers its a freakin nice MUD!

Really, im wondering why i cant use commands like "redit" "zedit" and so on... Stripping the world is giving a pain in the ass too, but it only takes some time
So my guestion now is when i try to do "redit" i get:
Code: |
<10P> redit
Privileged operation.
|
I checked that i have priviledges for my character :/ or does this package have some better scripts for making zones/rooms/stuff...

I'm a bit behind on this topic - but I ran into the same problem you initially noted - it goes to loop and closes down.
This was because I had not manually created the mysql database. Once I did that, it stayed 'loopy'.
Unfortunately, it craps out as soon as anyone tries to login to the game, because the table awakemud.pfiles doesn't exist - and it doesn't seem to be autocreating it.
I would *hope* that gets fixed up somewhere, or maybe I'm just stupid and missed something obvious.
Edited: Oh, hey, look at that.. right at the freakin' top of the forum list, required tables... I always put my foot in my mouth.
